Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services and partner agencies are monitoring Hurricane Marie as the system moves northwest, well offshore of Southern California. Forecast models are now in strong agreement that Marie will remain well offshore, significantly reducing the potential for major impacts to Ventura County.

The most likely scenario for Ventura County is dry conditions, with warmer temperatures, higher humidity, and periods of partly to mostly cloudy skies through the holiday weekend. Scattered light rain is possible at times from late Saturday through Tuesday, but significant rainfall and flooding are not expected. There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms in the mountains, although most activity is expected to remain east and south of Ventura County.

The primary impacts from Hurricane Marie will be large surf and strong rip currents through the holiday weekend. Minor coastal overflow is also possible during high tides Sunday through Tuesday.
